Bits of Torah Truths – A Midrash on Gen. 2:7 and the Two Adams in 1 Cor 15.45 – Episode 95

1 Corinthians 15:45

Bereshit / Genesis 2:7

1 Corinthians 15:45 45 So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. (NASB) Genesis 2:7, 7 Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (NASB) Here Paul speaks of new beginnings in 1 Corinthians 15:45. Paul quoted Bereshit / Genesis 2:7 to describe the uniqueness of man’s creation, and how man became a living soul. Yeshua the Messiah became a life giving spirit. This illustrates the victory Yeshua had and gives to those who believe in him. The Torah helps us to understand the NT text!
